Wen by Chaz Dean Sweet Almond Mint Cleansing Conditioner Review

Over the past several years, I have struggled with having severely damaged hair. I have always managed to take care of my own hair but a few years ago I made the mistake of going to a Beauty Salon. After my initial visit, I immediately noticed that my hair was starting to fall out in clumps. Now several years later, I now have thin and severely damaged hair. My hair at that time was so thick and hard to manage so I thought I was treating myself to a wonderful Straightening (WRONG). I will never go to another Beauty Salon again as this is not worth the money and the lost of my precious hair.

Gradually, I have tried to get my hair back to it's normal state but with the damage she caused I'm having a hard time in doing so. So far my hair is growing as it now touches down to my waist but it is so thin to where it still looks awful.  I only blame myself as only I knew my hair better than anyone. Sad part is I know I will never get that thick natural looking hair I had once before.

Given that I do want to protect the little strands of hair I have left I have been searching for products that are Sulfate-Free and more gentle on my hair. So when I was contacted by Guthy-Renker to review Wen by Chaz Dean I immediately jumped on board as I wanted to see if this product would work for my severely damage hair.

I started with the Sweet Almond Mint Cleansing Conditioner, which has a minty fragrance. I parted my hair into four sections as I noticed you have to apply a lot of the cleanser. The bottle recommended that I should apply 16 to 24 pumps but I ended up having to apply 30 as my hair is long. I applied it to my scalp first while gently distributing it to the rest of my hair. Then I took a wide tooth comb to make sure I coated every strand of my hair. Given that my hair is dry, I allowed the Cleansing Conditioner to stay on my hair for an additional 10 minutes. (This worked for me)

I proceeding to add a small amount of water to create a little foaming effect. This was very different for me as I'm so use to the lather. After that, I used a small amount of Moist Intensive Hair Treatment and applied it to my ends. Then I began to wash them both out of my hair from root to tips to make sure all traces were completely washed out. The results were good as it did leave my hair soft and shiny. The only problem I did have is it was a little oily but other than that I really liked it. I did not however use the Texture Balm that was included as I was satisfied with the results with only using the two other products.

If you are not getting the desired results that you are looking for.... I highly recommend starting with dry hair first as this allows the Cleansing Conditioner to help get to the root of your hair. Using too much water in the beginning may alter your results but then each persons hair is different. I actually love the results and will continue to use Wen. As when I use Wen my hair does not feel weighed down like with other products.
