Texas Instruments: Math Rocks Makeover Kit

This back-to-school season, parents are making more affordable choices when it comes to purchasing back-to-school gear. Considering math is becoming more challenging due to more teens taking higher-level math courses, it's extremely important that parents choose the best product to enhance their teens math skills. Texas Instruments’ (TI) newest graphing calculator – the TI-Nspire with Touchpad – has become a crucial back-to-school tool for students who are taking math, from algebra through calculus.

My lovely daughter Kayla will be entering in to the eight grade this upcoming school year. Considering she is not a huge fan of math in general, I wanted to try something that would improve her attitude towards math. That's why it was an extreme pleasure to be able to introduce her to the new TI-Nspire with Touchpad. One of the best things about the TI-Nspire is that it comes with a nice sized screen for easy viewing. This is a wonderful feature as my daughter wears prescription eye glasses and on occasion she has some trouble seeing words or numbers that are too small for her delicate little eyes.

Nice large Screen

We have never actually had a graphing calculator quite like this one as it's computer like features are quite impressive. It has so many features to where my daughter has yet to put it down since it arrived. The touch pad is a wonderful bonus as it actually feels as though you have a mouse right at your fingertips. Another one of our favorite features is you can use the software which enables you to be able to your use your computer to edit and transfer your documents. That simple! It worked extremely well with my iMac.
Unlike other calculators you can also save all of your work which is helpful and beats having to re input all of the information again. So far my daughter has been learning to use it for about a week and we have not had to replace the batteries but it is recommended that you purchase the TI-Nspire rechargeable batteries for prolong usage. Overall I highly recommend the TI-Nspire although it is rather pricey it's well worth it for students who are trying to excel in math.

The TI-Nspire graphing calculator is available for purchase at most major retailers or online for around $139.99.
