Ridin' in Style - 2013 Kia Sorento CUV Review

Mama of 3 Munchkins

The 2013 Kia Sorento EX V6 FWD is extremely prodigious and its super sleek styling will definitely make heads turn. If you're currently looking for the perfect family-friendly vehicle, the Kia Sorento CUV is definitely the vehicle to consider, especially if you have a large family. The 2013 Sorento is available in 3 beautiful models: the LX, EX (pictured), and SX.

Lots of great Colors

The 2013 Kia Sorento EX comes in a variety of striking colors, such as titanium silver, ebony black (my personal fave), baltic blue, bright silver (pictured below), dark cherry, snow white pearl, tuscan olive, satin metal, and metal bronze. I unequivocally love each and every color that Kia offers! But, I would have to say that my favorite color would have to be the ebony black, it's absolutely STUNNING!!

Um.....GORGEOUS!

The Deets

The Sorento's commodious interior is filled with a nice amount of luxuriant amenities, while providing a relatively compact exterior size. With the perfect combination of great features and modernistic technologies, the Kia Sorento is extremely practical for today's busy families. This vehicle definitely stands-out from the rest, in my opinion.

Engine Start/Stop Button

One of my favorite features would definitely have to be the illuminated engine start/stop button. The illuminated start/stop button is literally the best thing EVER and it really trumps inserting an actual car key into the ignition. Whenever the front door is ajar, the engine start/stop button will illuminate for about 30 second. I'm SO in love with this feature as it really comes in handy during the evening hours when there's not a whole lot of light present.

The Smart Key.... love it!!

The Smart key is phenomenal and I LOVE it! With the smart key, you can unlock the door (and tailgate) and even start the engine without inserting an actual key. I love the fact that I don't have to fiddle around in my purse trying to find my keys, which can be a nightmare. The Smart Key is definitely a time saver, especially when I'm in a rush trying to get the munchkins to school on-time.

The Cozy Headrest

Another great feature of the 2013 Kia Sorento CUV would have to be the cozy headrest, seriously! I know some people may not pay much attention to them, but they're essential for a smooth riding experience. The headrest are extremely comfortable and they're perfect for keeping your head and neck in proper alignment, which is a plus for this mama. Both the driver's seat and the passenger's seats are equipped with headrest for ultimate travel comfort. The headrest are both firm and sturdy, and they can be adjusted to your liking.

Seating & Storage

The Kia Sorento has stunning leather seating and a heated driver's seat that gives this darling little CUV a feeling of luxury. The Sorento provides a feeling of capaciousness with both five and seven-passenger seating configurations, making the Sorento perfect for families both big OR small. The rear seatbacks can be folded to facilitate carrying groceries, luggage and or other large items.

The munchkins really enjoyed the third row seating as it gave them a sense of privacy. Overall, the Sorento interior is very spacious and it offers a nice amount of head and legroom. Woot!

The Roof Rails

Another great feature is the roof rails. They're perfect for mounting accessories and or sporting equipment when you're out of cargo space. They also add a sporty and stylish finish to this snazzy little vehicle.

Bluetooth, anyone?

I was able to make and receive calls wirelessly through the voice recognition software, which made talking with my friends and family a breeze. You can adjust the volume to suit your preferences, which is a plus when you're driving. The calls are all very crisp and clear, which is a huge plus.

Rear Parking Assistant

The rear parking assistant is fantastic! When you're backing the Sorento out of your driveway, the rear parking assistant will chime if any objects come in close proximately of the vehicle. For added protection, the side view mirrors automatically adjust downwards when in reverse to make sure that you don't hit any curbs or other vehicles. How cool, right?

In addition to all of the above, the Sorento has other wondrous features like a telescopic steering wheel with integrated audio controls, eight-way power driver's seat, integrated rear view camera display, roof rails, rear sonar, an auto-dimming mirror with compass readout, heated front seats and fog lamps plus much, much more. It'll literally feel like the Kia Sorento has been tailor-made just for you.

Another fantabulous feature of the 2013 Kia Sorento CUV is the power folding side view mirrors, they're totally awesome. When the car is in the parking position, the power folded mirrors can be easily folded in to fit into tight parking spots. How cool, huh?

Final Thoughts

Overall, we were very happy with the Kia Sorento and we can't wait to be able to get one of our own one day. We test drove the Sorento for about two weeks and I am pleased to say that it's a nice little CUV, I just wish we could have kept it a little longer to familiarize ourselves with all of the features. There are so many more exciting features and I am so sorry that I didn't cover them all. I'm just getting over the flu and yes it was pretty bad. However, the Kia Sorento is a great choice for a family of five or more. If you're looking for something smaller, please check out our 2012 Kia Optima Hybrid review. The Optima is another fantastic car that really ROCKS!!!
