Um, no wedding is complete without flowers, right? Flowers not only accentuate the beauty of the bride and her bridesmaids, but they also lend a beautiful, natural decor to the ambiance of the wedding. And, if you pick real flowers to use at your wedding, then you'll have the added benefits of natural floral scents to complete your beautiful day.
When selecting flowers for your wedding — you can generally choose between the "a la carte" method, which means hand-picking the selections of flowers you'll use for different aspects of your wedding (the bride's bouquet; the bridesmaids' bouquets; decorative flowers to be laid on tables and around seating areas, etc.); or going for a package deal. Wedding flower packages are often times the ideal choice because a professional wedding planner or a florist will make sure that you have all the flowers you'll need for your wedding.
Flower packages are available in many different assortments, styles,
colors, and arrangements, but before you jump into making a selection,
first get an idea of the types of flowers you like. Wedding catalogs,
bridal magazines, and even home and garden magazines and books are all
excellent places to get inspiration for your own wedding. Pinterest and
other crafty "design board" websites are also excellent online sources,
so keep those in mind, too.
The hardest decision you'll probably make in regards to the floral
arrangements you will have at your wedding is color. While there are
thousands of flower styles and arrangements to select from, you may find
that you're more limited by color, though keep in mind that many
flowers can be hand-dyed to a certain color or tint. When determining
the color of the flowers you'll have at your wedding, look to your
bridal gown as the primary source of inspiration. Your flowers should
complement your gown in both color and style.
Fortunately, with most bridal dresses being white or off-white, your color choices are nearly limitless. White on white is always a beautiful choice, but you can also go for a vivid orange or a light lilac for your floral arrangements, and still have a gorgeous, coordinated look for your wedding day.

Things to keep in mind when putting together your flower package: color,
arrangement, how well the flowers will hold up to the venue they'll be
in (outdoor weddings may require more "hardy" flowers that can hold up
against breezes, for example), and of course, your budget.
Pretty! Those look similar to my wedding flowers. The color scheme anyway. :)
ReplyDeleteI love wedding flowers - somehow they always seem prettier! We used calla lillies and roses for our wedding. Loved them!
ReplyDeleteLove weddings and all the fun details that go into it. I love that arrangement in the picture really stunning!!
ReplyDeleteI"m allergic to flowers, so , sadly, I couldn't have them at my wedding. I love flowers, though.
ReplyDeleteFlowers at a wedding always add to the elegance of the celebration. Never thought to just order packages from a florist though!
ReplyDeleteAlso keep in mind when flowers are in season. Hot house flowers are much more expensive.

I was lucky. My former employer was a florist and did my flowers for free and they were so simple and elegant!

ReplyDeleteEvery time I read about wedding issues, I'm surprised that I was so clueless while planning my own wedding! Seriously, I don't think I fretted over anything. I had gardenias in my bouquet but I don't remember the others. It was almost 17 years ago!
ReplyDeleteThose colors are absolutely gorgeous together. I'm horrible at designing and try to be too matchy-matchy. I enjoyed reading your tips. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteI had a gorgeous wedding bouquet with lilies. I only wish that I could have dried it and kept it.
ReplyDeleteI will definitely keep these tips in mind for our wedding next may!
ReplyDeleteI am fortunate to have dried my wedding bouquet and now have it displayed on a shelf in our bedroom.
ReplyDeleteIt was SO hard trying to decide on my flowers! I think that was the decision that took me the longest out of my whole wedding!
ReplyDeleteMy cousins wife did my flowers for my wedding and they turned out beautiful. I think we went back and forth a couple of times before I decided.
ReplyDeleteI loved picking out flowers for my wedding! Once we picked our colors, it was easy!
ReplyDeleteI didn't have an actual wedding since our budget was really tight! :(

ReplyDeleteGreat tips for those having a wedding, I love the flowers next to the dresses.
ReplyDeleteI was lucky in that we got married in our back yard & my gardens were spectacular that year... never been as good since.
ReplyDeleteI loveeeed my flowers so much that I actually had them placed into a shadow box :)
ReplyDeleteMy wedding flowers were a COMPLETE surprise the day of the wedding; a very sweet local florist "gifted" me our bouquets and all of the flowers at the wedding and I had no idea what I was going to get. Turns out they were the MOST beautiful, beautiful, beautiful flowers ever. I cried when I saw them -- my mom still says (4 daughters and 4 weddings later) that I had the most beautiful flowers she has ever seen at any wedding.
ReplyDeleteFlowers can be one of the largest parts of a wedding budget so it's something everyone should consider thoughtfully before deciding on the details!
ReplyDeleteI loved my bouquet. I didn't go overboard with flowers. Simple and sweet was what I wanted and that is what I got :)
ReplyDeleteI love the bouquet in the photo. My bouquet was a little too large for my taste.
ReplyDeleteThose are really pretty! I made my own bouquet with fake flowers so I could keep it forever
ReplyDeleteI think as far as decorations go, flowers definitely make the wedding day complete. That's one of my favorite parts of a wedding is seeing the beautiful flowers.
