When the first hybrids arrived onto the car market, many people deemed the vehicles to be unproven and under-performing. Although hybrid vehicles have improved by leaps and bounds over the last few years, there are still some myths circulating about vehicles that are equipped with a hybrid engine. Here are SOME of the biggest myths concerning hybrid cars.
This is a partnered post written exclusively by me. |
Hybrids Lack Style.
Hybrid Engines Are Weak and Unresponsive.
Hybrid Vehicle Are Unreliable.
Unlike the electric-powered cars of yesteryear — the hybrid vehicles of today deliver impressive styling. In many instances, the exterior design of the hybrid car is virtually identical to its gasoline-only counterpart, awesome right? No longer do car enthusiast have to sacrifice STYLE in order to get ah-mazing fuel efficiency.
The notion that hybrid vehicles are WEAK could not be further from the truth. Hybrid engines are able to produce a power outlet that is on PAR with traditional engines. Certain hybrids engines are able to deliver VERY quick acceleration — yet keep fuel consumption to a minimum.
There's NO evidence to support the claim that hybrid vehicles are unreliable. There are PLENTY of hybrid vehicles on the road that have surpassed 200,00 miles on the odometer. And, prospective hybrid owners can expect several years of trouble-free service.
Hybrids Lack Cargo Space.
Although some hybrid vehicles have a tad less cargo room, the difference is usually barely noticeable. The Toyota Camry Hybrid offers a large trunk are that's perfect for storing luggage and groceries.
I thin the hybrids are really neat and it seems they keep expanding on what they offer. I am not sure at this time it is something we would consider getting but maybe later.
ReplyDeleteI currently own a Prius and I actually may be trading it in tomorrow for a new Prius. I love it and wouldn't trade it for the world! (well, except for a new model!)
ReplyDeleteWe're definitely considering a hybrid for our next car. We've already cut down our gas use quite a bit since we share a car and carpool, so having a hybrid would be even more economical, not to mention environmentally friendly.
ReplyDeletePerhaps sometime in the future, the next one won't be though... can't afford it.
ReplyDeleteIn the next year or so, I will be purchasing my own car--something I've never done. I'm considering some sort of hybrid. I'm going to do my research and test drive many different cars before I settle on one. Thank you for the information!
ReplyDeleteI havent' really thought about getting a Hybrid. It's something to consider though.
ReplyDeletefunny you should write this...i just bought a hybrid yesterday. And i love it. There is plenty of trunk space. And the back seat it a big/roomy. I bought the Hyundai sonata. LOVE IT>
ReplyDeletefunny that you write about this. i just bought the hyundai sonata yesterday. and i love it. the trunk it roomy and the back seat is spacious. i love all the bell and whistles it has on it.
ReplyDeleteThe cost of a Hybrid vehicle right now isn't low enough to justify it over a gas powered vehicle. We are looking for a new vehicle and we sat down and calculated it, and unfortunately price wise we'd still be financially further ahead with a fully gas powered car :( Maybe in a few years they'll be more affordable.
ReplyDeletethese are all things I've heard about hybrids but I've driving a few and have loved each one. Maybe one day we'll get one
ReplyDeleteI sure hope so, I have been wanting one! This one looks great.
ReplyDeleteI hope a hybrid is in my future!!
ReplyDeleteMaybe so! You never know. I do love Toyota cars, though. :)
ReplyDeleteMy next car is likely to be a hybrid! Right now my husband drives a diesel car, which isn't hybrid but still is still considered an alternative vehicle & it gets ridiculously good gas mileage.
ReplyDeleteWe're going to be getting a new car soon so a hybrid car is definitely in our future.
ReplyDeleteMy car is paid off this month, and I will be in the market for a new one in a few years. I totally plan to purchase a hybrid next time.
ReplyDeleteHubby has wanted one for a few years now. I'm undecided, but wouldn't mind trying one out to see how we like it.
ReplyDeleteI drove one on a blog trip once and it was a fantastic ride. If my family was smaller I would buy a hybrid in a heartbeat.
ReplyDeleteWe have a hybrid and love it! If I could afford more than one, we'd get another.
ReplyDeleteI'd really love a hybrid car.
ReplyDeleteI'd love a hybrid! Anything to save some money -- plus they have all styles now and are super cute!
ReplyDeleteWe really are considering hybrid for our next lease.
ReplyDeleteWe bought a hybrid this summer, it's a Honda CR-Z. We've loved it and it gets anywhere from 40-50 mpg. It's an awesome little car.
ReplyDeleteI used to REALLY want a hybird car because I drove 30 miles each way to work and gas was just killing me! Now that I work from home, I double I will ever buy one - the extra sticker price just doesn't make sense when I only drive 1 mile on most days. LOL
ReplyDeleteI'm still not convinced about the level of power in hybrids. :) This was very interesting though. I'll have to think more about them next time I'm in the market.
ReplyDeleteI am definitely not opposed to getting a hybrid car. My friends who have them absolutely love them!
ReplyDeleteI would love to get one though the cost is higher..
ReplyDeleteI would love to own a hybrid car. I wish they weren't more expensive.
ReplyDeleteI want one but with 3 kids in carseats/boosters I can't get it yet.
ReplyDeleteI'd definitely consider one when we're in the market for a new vehicle.
