Countdown to High School - 5..4..3..2..1

If you have a child that is currently in the 8th grade, I highly recommend talking to them about what to expect before entering into high school. High school can be a fun yet exciting experience but it can also be quite scary, too. Most students are often times scared as they transition from uniform to wearing regular clothing because now they are adjusting to a new personal identity. Being the new kid on campus is extremely hard that's why early preparation is key for a successful school year.

It's no secret that things are much more different than what they are accustomed to as High School is much bigger than the Junior High School they previously attended. Many students fear that the first day will be challenging as the campus is filled with so many unfamiliar faces. Not to mention finding classes can be hard as they are not use to their new surroundings.

Prior to the first day, I highly recommend attending student orientation as this will help your student familiarize themselves with the new campus and help them get started into the new school year.  Also keep in mind that academic studies can be overwhelming to new students as well. The assignments will be a bit more harder and homework will start to pile up as the school year progress. If your student does tend to fall behind in their studies the writing faculty will definitely get them on the path of academic excellence to relieve some of their stress.

Remember high school can be a fun experience, but students will still need guidance and direction along the way not just from their teachers but most importantly their parents. But as long as you let them know that everything will be okay this will hopefully get them off to a bright and wonderful new school year.

If I missed anything please free to share it below as my daughter Kayla will be attending High School next year and I want her to be extremely prepared as I want to have her as comfortable as possible.

  3. It's a huge adjustment for sure, and sometimes the upper classmen make it a little tough in the beginning too. :(

  4. @Momma, I can completely relate as I had more bad times than good lol.

@Blueviolent, I agree that it can be quite a challenge for newer students. Considering I haven't attended high school in a long time, I'm pretty sure it's change a lot and sadly I don't know if that's a good or bad thing lol.
